Sri Rama Amrutam is designed to enable people understand the methodology of performing pooja as per agamas in a proper manner. It also address the need and importance of each and every upachara (steps in pooja) followed, thereby bridge the gap between reasoning and ritual, this will ultimately result in aiding the devotee to attain the true goal of life (eternal bliss).
Every sunday the entire set required to conduct pooja alongwith the statutes of Sri Seeta-Lakshman-Hanumat sahita Sri Ramchandra Parabramha are brought to the desired devotee house and abhishekam is performed as per agamas in the devotees house. After abhishekam, Sri vishnu sahasranam, Sri Rama Raksha Stotram, Sri Hanuman chalisa, Sri Nama Ramayanam and Sri Rama Nama sankertana are sung in the praise of Lord.


The ideology behind this program is to enlighten the need and significance of performing pooja, the importance of agamas and sastras, the joy in reciting lord's leelas and thereby helping people to lead peaceful and contented life.

Periyapuranam - mAnakkanychARa nAyanAr

The favorite abode of the divine father who has the ganga on His head, the town in which the water in the canals become sweet due to the rich honey beehives on well grown trees flowing with them, smelling which a big army of gasps follow making lots of sound, hearing which the peacocks dance to the tune, enjoying which the farm folks grow the grains and trees making the land fertile - that beautiful land is called kanychARUr.
mAnakkanychARar was born in that town and was the chief of the king's armed forces. His arms were mostly folded in saluting the Lord who dances with swinging eight arms and His devotees, who have the character of not depending on anybody other than the Lord Himself. He was the chief, but was humble. He had a lot of wealth, but was simple. He had a lot of men to serve him, but he served the devotees obediently. His orders led the entire army, but he was waiting all the times for the devotees' orders.

He prayed to the graceful feet - that always resided in his heart, which were difficult for brahma and vishNu to be seen - for being blessed with an offspring, which he didn't have for a long time in his married life. By His grace he got a beautiful girl child who later added to his fame by her great deeds. He brought up that child, the boon of his austerities, in a grand way that the entire town admired at. She grew up with making the maids to run behind in the well decorated house to feed her the sweet rice rich with milk and honey. Of course she was fed with the unsaturating sweet of the love for shiva by her loving father. He took care of all her needs and never allowed her to feel for affection. Thus she grew up as the goddess of wealth, with beautiful ornaments decorating her always. As she approached the age of getting married, the elders in the family of one other wonderful devotee whose love for Him was so great that he could not digest the Lord going as a messanger for a devotee (sundharar). EyarkOna kalikkAma nAyanAr was that groom. In fact it should be said that mAnakkanychARar did not get one boon from the Lord, but two - the boon of getting a marvelous devotee like EyarkOn kalikkAmar as the groom for his daughter.

Both the families were happy about this wedding and they found a suitable day for the marriage of those two roses. Eyarkon kalikkAmar arrived in the town for wedding like the sun that rises in the east. Amidst the sounds of drums and other music instruments played in the marriage function that chalanged the sound of the thunder there arrived the Lord of peculiar forms in the form of a yogi. He had ear ring ball that swings in the air, holy thread decorating the chest, a cover holding the holy ash that burns the source (of sufferings) into ashes. With His body shining like the flame with holy ash smeared on it, He enetered the house of the devotee with the feet that even yogis struggle to know and once seen they see nothing else.

As soon as he saw the shiva yOgi mAnakkanychARar fell down to His feet. He was more than happy. It was a boon for him that a shiva yOgi graced the occasion. For the giver of boons it was an occasion to show to the world the excellent characters of His devotees. After getting His blessings mAnakanychARar brought his clouds like wide beautiful haired daughter to get the blessing of the sage. The God who obscures the illusion from the hearts of devotees told in the form in which he had obscured that the beautiful hair of his daughter will be useful for Him as panychavadi. He took that statement as on order, as a boon; took his dagger cut off the dark pretty hair of his daughter in a moment and presented to the sage. (In the tradition cutting the hair of young females is not considered as a good sign. But for out nAyanAr the wish of the devotee is of utmost importance even though it was the time of his daughters wedding).

He acted as accepting it and disappeared to show the devotee His form. He appeared on the holy Bull of justice with the mother of the universe to His left on the Bull amidst the rain of flowers that the dEvas offered. nAyanAr prostrated, cried out of the joy of seeing His graceful appearance, raised the Lord with the best words of literature. The Lord said that It was a deed to exhibit his love for God to the entire world and blessed His slave of uncorrupted love. EyarkOn arrived then and came to know the great deed of mAnakkanychARar. His heart was filled with the emotions of salutations to mAnakkanychARar. Blessed were those eyes which saw the marriage of EyarkOn with that girl who got her pretty hair back by the grace of the God who removes the pains of one who salutes. Later mAnakkanychARar got the place under the stable feet of the Lord. Let the readiness of mAnakkanychARa nAyanAr to sacrifice for the devotees even at the time of his loving daughters marriage stay in the mind.
